Dear Residents,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Weekend and enjoyed some quality time with loved ones. Fall is a fantastic season to take in the beauty of nature and our trails, especially in Milne, a perfect spot to enjoy the vibrant colours of the changing leaves and the added bonus of summer-like days.
Halloween has come and gone and maybe it was the warm weather, but I had more trick-or-treaters than usual this year! From dinosaurs to princesses and superheroes, the costumers were fantastic and it was nice to see so many children and parents dressed up.

On a community note, the city has begun detailed design work for a new set of traffic lights at Bur Oak Avenue and Country Ridge Dr/Fred McLaren Boulevard. We know this may cause some inconvenience and we appreciate your patience as we work to enhance both pedestrian and vehicular safety in the area.

Additionally, the Mayor tabled the 2025 budget this past week and will be hosting a public meeting on Monday November 4th at 7pm, More details are provided below.

Lastly, don't forget to change your clocks this weekend. Enjoy that extra hour of sleep as we "fall back". It is also a good time to check your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to make sure their batteries are in working order.

Regards

Karen Rea

Presentation from special council meeting AGENDA

Please be advised that our Keep Markham Beautiful By-Law prohibits anyone from blowing and leaving leaves on city roads. Leaves can be mulched, composted or placed in brown lawn bags for pick up by Miller. Weekly yard waste collection has started and will continue to mid-December.

Please ensure your lawn contractor service also abides by these rules.

The city conducts street sweeping twice a year, in the spring and fall, a process that takes about 10-12 weeks to complete. If you are able, you can make a big difference by clearing leaves and litter from storm drains near your property. This small effort ensures proper drainage and prevents street flooding in your neighbourhood. Thank you for being part of the solution and keeping our community safe and clean!
